Something magical happens when non-disabled children share playtime with disabled children. Barriers evaporate. Stigmas erase. Fun and frolic increase.

When Children Play…

When people think about accessibility, they often imagine major renovations or expensive projects. In reality, some of the most meaningful changes are the simplest.

Moving a table to create more space, installing an automatic door opener, adding captions to a video, or providing information in larger print can make a tremendous difference for someone living with a disability.

Accessibility isn't about special treatment—it's about ensuring everyone has an equal opportunity to participate, contribute, and belong.

As someone who has lived with a disability for more than 30 years, I've experienced firsthand how small acts of inclusion can change lives. Often, barriers exist simply because people don't realize they're there.

Creating accessible communities starts by asking one simple question: What small change could make this easier for someone else?

At From Barriers to Ability, we believe that when we remove even one barrier, we create new opportunities. Because sometimes, the smallest changes make the biggest difference.

Small Changes, Big Impact

Congrats Lynnwood Community League

I was absolutely stoked today to visit the newly unveiled accessible playground at Lynnwood Community League in Edmonton, Alberta. This is exactly what Edmonton needs to make outdoor spaces more accessible and inclusive for all. I will use this opportunity to challenge other Community Leagues in the province to undertake modernization projects to improve accessibility and inclusion in their community. Improving accessibility and inclusion future-proofs your facilities and delivers excellent value for money. Please contact From Barriers to Ability if you need any help moving your project forward. Our services are FREE.
