From Barriers to Ability

Our Mission

To deliver education and advocacy that promote accessibility and empower individuals with physical disabilities to fully engage in community life.

Our Vision

A fully inclusive society where barriers are removed, awareness is widespread, and individuals of all abilities have equal opportunity to thrive.

Our Approach

We focus on practical, experience driven solutions grounded in lived experience. Our goal is not just to raise awareness, but to work with organizations in making real, measurable improvements in accessibility

We work collaboratively with schools, businesses, and communities to turn barriers into opportunities for inclusion.

Accessibility is about more than removing barriers - it’s about creating opportunity, inclusion, and full participation in all aspects of life.

Our Story

From Barriers to Ability was created from lived experience and a clear understanding of the physical barriers that still exist in everyday environments. After years of navigating these challenges personally and professionally, we recognized the need for practical, real-world solutions that got beyond awareness.

Our work is focused on helping organizations identify barriers and take meaningful action to improve accessibility in their spaces, services, and communities.

Our Story in Song

These Wheels Ain't Chains
Curtis Sagmeister (sagmeister.ca)

This song comes from a real place.

It’s about the shift—from what was, to what is—and choosing not to be defined by it. What others might see as limitation becomes movement, independence, and control.

It also reflects what drives our work: the belief that disability isn’t the barrier—systems are. And those systems can be changed.

“These wheels ain’t chains” isn’t just a line—it’s how we live.
